First Full Weekend of Spring

Saturday was the most pleasant day of the weekend.  I woke up early, just in time to catch the sunrise...

Took the cats to a vet appointment, which Tyke brilliantly attempted to get out of by creative evasive manuevers regarding the cat carrier.  They are now officially "Senior" cats, so vets recommend twice yearly exams.  So much fun for everyone involved.  They'd forgiven me by the time I got home that evening. 

After dropping the cats at home, headed for Issaquah (90 min drive) to meet friends for lunch and see a musical at the Village Theatre called "The Gypsy King", a rowdy, bawdy VT Original.  Which I found difficult to enjoy, having receive a phone call just prior to showtime that the sister of a friend of mine had passed away from brain/pancreatic cancer, and my friend wasn't able to get to her sister in time to say goodbye...she'd been planning to head to Portland, OR Saturday morning to spend the day with her sister, and then the call came.  These events in the lives of my friends have been hitting hard this year.

Sunday morning first thing was sunny with hints of "Enjoy it now, a storm is on the way"...

...and it was pouring by the time we got home from church.  Very stormy, windy and rainy pretty much the rest of the afternoon.

Highlight of the day was this unexpected visitor...

(EDIT:  This is a "Sharp Shinned Hawk" - we asked Google - they like to hang out around bird feeders...for snacks of the feathery kind)

DH and I had just sat down at the dining room table later that afternoon for a game of Sequence (he won this time), when he called out -- grab your camera and move slowly towards the kitchen window, we have a visitor...

Definitely, the highlight of the weekend.  Now if only we know what kind of raptor this was...
