Seafair, a Visit from Friends and a New Arbor :)

Mostly a pictorial post today, with scenes from last week and over the weekend.

This was last Thursday, a misty Vashon Island in the distance - very pretty morning.

This is a shot of Blake Island from my walk to the ferry dock - the fog draped over the island was quite mysterious and haunting!

Along with hummingbirds, I'm enjoying a fascination with starfish :)

Friday afternoon the Navy's Blue Angels busily practiced for their performances Saturday and Sunday for Seafair over Lake Washington.  I caught the following shots from a conference room on the 39th floor of our office building.  I think I got a better show than the Saturday viewers!

Saturday around 11am, my sister and our friend Dollie arrived.  We had lunch at the Victoria Rose Tea Room in Port Orchard, then spent a few hours at a second hand store and Goodwill hunting for treasures :)  The weather was cool and rainy, perfect for spending it indoors!

We got home, popped open a bottle of wine with a yummy dinner, and entertained ourselves with the camera :)

After an evening of silliness and quite a bit of chatting, we retired to our beds around 11pm.  DH had long previously disappeared into the mancave, where he ended up just staying put ~ too much estrogen upstairs with us gals :)   The next morning, all were up around 7am, enjoying tea, bagels and a stroll around the overcast yard.

The girls left around 11am, and DH fired up the post hole digger - install of a swing arbor commenced!

Below is a shot of the result of the last bit of my de-ivying project.  Ivy removed, trees and bushes freed to breath easy, and cardboard laid to deter further ivy invasion, and bark will be liberally applied next weekend.

A pleasant surprise came in the form of a sailboat regata in the afternoon.  Those happen a few times a year, and it's always fun to see the brightly colored sails drifting by.

Yesterday afternoon actually turned pleasant and warmed up.  We finished up in the yard around 3:30-4pm, cleaned up and settled in for the evening.  Today, it is cold and overcast again, but hey, the 80s are allegedly heading our way by mid-week :)
