By Thursday, after our little snowbreak on Tuesday night/Wednesday, Western WA was pretty much back to drizzly January weather, though over the weekend, we got a nice break - Sunday looked like this :)
Saturday, before it started raining heavily, DH was able to get one more load to the recycle place, so our brick pile thankfully continues to diminish.
With the sun being out and the temps fairly mild yesterday, I took a stroll around the yard in search of the much hoped for signs of spring, and maybe some mid-winter color...daffys are enthusiastically making good headway for a March appearance!
My little orange azealea bush is in bud, after a November psych-out, when it started actually flowering because the temps were so mild!
Ahhh, the everpresent Grace Ward Lithodora - always dependable for a soul-feeding show of blue, even in the bleak mid-winter!
This is a rosy new addition to the garden, a gift from my friend Sally, who assured me lovely color in winter as she shared 3 pots from her garden - shamefully, I have still not planted these and they continue to live on in their little pots, but they certainly don't seem to mind, and they are a welcomed addition I will be planting soon, as she advises they are prolific and multiply like nuts - goody!!
Promise of a profusion of white lilac seen in this little bud - this lilac is a transplant from Bill & Patti's yard several years ago ~ it remains hearty and should put on a fabulous spring show.
Sometime in summer, these will pop out into pretty yellow flowers...
And finally, my one little primrose, doggedly determined to survive the elements and the slugs...thank you for your courage, little harbinger of spring!
Last night and today we are contending with heavy wind - very glad today is the MLK holiday, so no need to be on the little passenger only boat in high seas! Water doesn't look too choppy in the picture, but you can see the wind in action anyway!
We lost power last night, but at least it was curteous enough to wait until after we'd gone to bed! Plenty of whitecaps out there in Colvos this morning -- good day to go back to bed and read!
