H's weekend started out productively, as he worked to remove the Square Foot Gardens we tried last gardening season. They were ok, all things considered, but we never really fell in love with them. And with the install of the new garden area in the lower yard, well, time for these to go.
Gone. And now, we have no idea what to do with this space, so DH projected productivity ground to a halt, filled in with puttering projects and a long nap on Saturday :)
I had a pretty productive Saturday shopping for a wedding dress with my sister. We met in Bellevue and hit the mall, with a stop into a fun trinket store where we "modeled" new looks :)
After searching two major malls, we came to the realization that major department stores like Macy's, Nordy's, Sears and Penny's are no longer in the wedding dress biz. Before leaving Southcenter, we stopped for a bite to eat, somewhat discouraged. We asked our server if she knew of any wedding dress boutiques, and she pointed us in the direction she though one might be found. Upon walking through the doors at 2pm, the awesome started happening.
1. This was an appt only boutique, and we didn't have one of those. BUT, the gal who greeted us ended up being free for the afternoon, as she'd thought she was off at 2pm, and was actually scheduled to work until 5. So we had our own personal shopper helping us out!
2. The first dress sister tried on, she loved and looked fabulous in, which encouraged her that going this route as opposed to getting a little something at Ross Dress for Less was absolutely the right call. I meanwhile was trying to figure out how it was going to get paid for. I advised sister to start thinking about which kidney she loved less, as one was likely going to have to be sold in order to buy a dress...
3. Sister's BFF just happened to be in the Southcenter area, so one phone call to her and she was over to the boutique like a shot to weigh in on the choices - having her there was another unexpected awesome!
4. BFF and I (and sister, too!) knew the minute we saw it, Dress #4 was The One! See below :)

5. And the best awesome of all? Not only was this The Dress, it was also a perfect Size 6, fit sister like a glove, was pulled right off the discontinued rack, and WAS ON SALE!!! We got that baby for under $200!! Sa-WEET!!!
After experiencing this delightful and unexpected success, we carpooled over to Michael's Crafts to hunt up silk flowers for the bouquets, which I am making. This is the color scheme, and the materials from which I crafted the Bride's Bouquet on Monday evening...
Here's how they ended up...I am rather pleased with the final result :)

All in all, wedding plans are coming together. Our cousin Pam, her daughter Brianna and her mom Susie are coming up a couple days prior to the event and will be staying with us ~ the Little Wedding that Was is morphing into a Not So Little Wedding, but I'm not driving this bus, so that's fine with me!
Next mission: Bridesmaid dresses!
